Japan extends support to Siraha hospital

Dec 14, 2017-The Japanese Embassy has provided a mobile clinic van to Phul Kumari Mahato Memorial Hospital located in Karjanha-2, Siraha.
The handover took place at a function at the embassy in the Capital on Mobile clinic van is a medical vehicle equipped with tools and apparatuses for performing basic surgeries.
Japan’s Toy Factory, which specialises on specific-purpose vehicles, has agreed to look after the maintenance of the mobile clinic van.
Ambassador Masashi Ogawa and the hospital Chairman Upendra Mahato also signed an agreement for a grant assistance worth $63,043 (Rs 65 million) for the hospital.
The grant assistance is funded under Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects.
According to the embassy, the project will contribute to improving medical services of the hospital and help save lives.
The 50-bed hospital has been providing various medical services free of cost to financially and socially disadvantaged people.
Mahato hopes that the hospital will support in the development of a model village and bring quality and accessible health care to the residents of Siraha.
